VARIOUS SCAMS
TEXT MESSAGE SCAM
There is a scam that involves unsolicited text messages sent to cell phones. The message urges the recipient to call a number provided for information about account discrepancies and then solicits individual account information and pin numbers.
Cell phone users should be weary of unsolcitied text messages. Such messages should be deleted and all deleted text messages should be removed, if possible, as the perpetrators have been known to use Spyware in conjuction with their text message solicitation.
TELEPHONE AND INTERNET SCAMS
Never give out personal information whether by telephone or over the internet unless you have personally initiated the contact with the company or party you wish to do business with.
Scammers are becoming more sophisticated in soliciting your personal information and once they have it, can wreck havoc on your credit rating and cause financial loss.
